The tai chi greeting is used at the beginning and the close of class sessions.

Whilst there are a number of commonly accepted explanations for the tai chi or wushu greeting, also referred to as the kung fu salute or palm hold fist salute, there are others which have had strong political influences.
The use of the greeting as a secret code for compatriots was strongly seen in the early Qing dynasty after the Han Chinese government, the Ming dynasty, in Southern China was overthrown by a branch of the Manchu empire in North-Eastern China in the 1600s.
