Tai Chi for Life and Health provides a range of classes at Mana and Paraparaumu with progressive learning to cover the range of experience and ability of students.

Currently, our classes are full so we only have Continuing Tai Chi and Advanced Tai Chi classes. While we no longer have the Introduction to Tai Chi class for beginners, we can accept new students referred to us by existing students. While we prefer them to have done tai chi previously, we make provision for them otherwise.

Each class provides a warmup, exercises, a qigong set, a tai chi routine, and a cool down.

For many students this learning with ongoing practice is more than sufficient as a complement to other exercise or sporting activities they may do.

Qigong is essential in developing the fundamentals (mental focus, breathing, coordination of breath and movement, and coordination of body and mind) necessary for performing tai chi routines effectively. Our gigong sets include Master Calligrapher Qigong (a martial qigong), the Lotus Qigong, The 5 Elements Qigong, and the original Qigong Shibashi.

Tai chi routines learnt include the three standard tai chi routines, i.e. The 10 Forms, The 24 Forms, and the new standard Tai Chi 8 Techniques 5 Steps. Short and intermediate routines in the Traditional Sun and Traditional Yang styles provide a first step towards learning the long routines in the Traditional Sun and Traditional Yang styles.

Please feel free to Contact Us if you have a question or would like to speak to us about these classes. Otherwise drop in to speak to an instructor before or after a class time. We will need to discuss any previous tai chi learning or experience to ensure you get to the class that will best suit you.
